Look of blooming success

Mrs Jo Burand, of Christchurch, looks at the premier bloom at the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s annual Chrysanthemum Show at the Horticultural Hall yesterday, with her grandchildren, Jenny Gray, aged three, and her sister, Rebecca, aged five. The bloom, which also won the best-in-show award, was exhibited by Derek Armstrong, of Christchurch. Special displays of carnivorous plants, bromeli-

ads, proteas, cacti and succulents, and fuchsias were on display. A special feature of the exhibition was a display of 120 various brands of homemade wines by Jack McNae, of Christchurch.
