Shore keeps soccer lead
North Shore clung to the lead in the Air New Zealand soccer Teague by drawing, 00, with lowly Manawatu yesterday, but a host of teams are now breathing down its neck.
The top 10 teams in the league are within three points off each other after six rounds, signalling that no one team looks likely to run away from the pack. Napier is now second and Mount Wellington moved ominously into third with a 2-0 victory over Mount Maunganui, Billy Wright and Dave Witteveen scoring. In the local derby in Wellington, Bill Harris scored a superb solo goal to give Wellington United a 3-2 victory over' Hutt Valley, while Gisborne was too strong for Manurewa at home, goals from Steve Sumner and Paul Nixon sinking the visitors.
At the bottom of the table the trouble continued for Nelson: United. It ted Miramar, 10, at half-time but conceded three second-half goals to slump to its sixth straight defeat
