Mars bars draw blood
NZPA-AAP Melbourne Public appeals couldn’t do it, but the lure of a famous chocolate bar proved an irresistible force.
Two weeks ago, Australian Red Cross blood banks were desperate for idonors and began offering free Mars bars. A blood bank official said in Melbourne yes-
terday that the number of donors had risen by about 28 per cent on the corresponding period last year. “Perth, Adelaide and
Melbourne blood banks have witnessed dramatic increases in their stock since the ’transfusion’ of Mars bars,” said the blood bank director in Victoria, Dr Jack Morris.
