Heathcote to look again at Access
The Heathcote County Council will look into the possible use of the Training Assistance and Access programmes. It was agreed at a council meeting last evening that the council would use a report provided by the Canterbury United Council, and consider the matter at the next finance and administration committee meeting. .'/■ The report shows that Waimairi is the only council making significant use of the programmes. , Heafhcote’s County ClerkKMr Pat Cooney, said ||sBt with the new mformqtionavailable con-
cerning the schemes, the council would see if it could realistically be involved. Until now, he said, the principles had exceeded the merits of the practice. The County Chairman, Mr Oscar Alpers, said he had his doubts about Waimairi’s use of the programme. He questioned the value of projects such as, walkway maintenance and development He said, however, that with the modifications to the programme there might be scope for Heathcote’s joining with Lyttelton and Mount Herbeit to run a scheme.
