Easy victory to England

PA Hamilton A host of unforced errors left the New Zealand Young Internationals’ netball coach, Yvonne Willering, dissatisfied with her team’s losing performance against All England at Hamilton yesterday. England won the game at Minogue Park, 63-29, making good use of a distinctive height advantage in the goal circle and seemingly untroubled by driving rain that marred the second half.

But Ms Willering, who was not necessarily expecting a victory from her team but wanted a good performance, was not happy with her team’s mistakes. “The fact that many of the errors were unforced was the worst part about it,” Ms Willering said. The coach put the mistakes down to lapses in concentration, and said she was pleased her team had at least given it full effort for the whole game.

“It was certainly good experience for them. “The Young Internationals are an ongoing thing and some of these present players will be retained after this present series so it really is a great opportunity for them,” she said. Ms Willering said that England adapted to the conditions far better than the Young Internationals and did not make “anywhere near as many mistakes, while at the same time capitalising on ours.”
