Social tennis ended in broken arm

A woman who suffered a broken arm when a male tennis opponent threw her to the ground during an argument over a line call has been awarded sAustlo,ooo ($12,000), according to Sydney reports.

The Broken Hill Local Court in New South Wales was told that Lauren Patricia Prentice, aged 19, a former resident of the town, had had her left wrist and elbow broken during the dispute over whether a ball was in or oudduring a social match. Hie award, the maxi-

mum allowed in the local court, was to be paid out of the property of lan Robert Cremmins, of Broken Hill. Mrs Prentice said she and her sister were playing tennis against. her brother and Cremmins in November 1984, when the argument developed. "Mr Cremmins jumped over the net, grabbed me by the throat with both hands, picked me up and chucked me to the ground.” Her arm had been in plaster for 12 weeks, and she still had difficulty in lifting, changing and bathing her toddlep&nd preparing meals. ’
