Car-theft warning
People have been warned to stop leaving valuables in cars parked on the Port Hills, after a number of thefts recently.
The thefts were increasing, said Senior-Ser-geant Mike Moore, of the Christchurch South police station.
The problem area was round the Summit Road, Victoria Park, and the Sign of the Kiwi. The cars which were entered were often left by joggers or sightseers. Locking cars was often not a deterrent
Senior-Sergeant Moore advised people not to leave valuables in their cars.
