Buller ticket wins $200,000 first prize
PA Westport First prize of $200,000 in the Golden Kiwi No. 8 drawn yesterday has gone to a Buller family syndicate headed by the former chief administrative officer in the town for the Mines Department. Mr Peter Mumm bought the ticket, number 203112, on behalf of his wife Fay, his daughter, Ann Philpott, and her husband, Ken, who live at Ohai, his son, Rex, and his wife, Judy, who live at Hector, near Ngakawau. Mr Rex Mumm recently took sevrence pay as a electrician at the Stockton Mine. He and his wife have three children. Mr Peter Mumm retired two years ago and also lives at Hector. He named his ticket 778 Syndicate after part of his old Westport telephone number. Mr Mumm said he regularly takes 778 in trebles on the T.A.B. and jron a $2600 treble with it
several years ago.
