Upset victory to England
NZPA-Reuter Sharjah Splendid knocks by Tim Robinson, Chris Broad and James Whitaker carried England to an upset five-wicket victory over the favourite, Pakistan, in the Sharjah Cup cricket tournament yesterday to remain in contention for the honours. Chasing a not too for-
midable total of 217 for nine, England reached the target in 47.2 overs when Whitaker hooked Wasim Akram for six to end the match with a flourish. The result left the fournation tournament tantalisingly poised for an exciting finish when Pakistan faces India in the final match on Saturday.
India leads the table with four points from two outings while England and Pakistan have two points with England in second position due to better run rate. England plays its final match against a scoreless Australia tomorrow and a big win could earn it first place if India lose to Pakistan.
