Council posts filled
Two senior administrative positions at the Christchurch City Council have been filled by present staff members.
Mr Marshall Wright has been appointed Associated Town Clerk and Mr Max Robertson will soon become City Secretary. Both men are already in the council’s administrative section and were selected for, the posts after the vacancies were circularised among Christchurch’s four uniting councils.
■ Mr Wright will take up a post that has been filled part-time by the former City Treasurer, Mr Fred Sowden, since the resignation of the former Associate Town Clerk, Mr Keith McNeil, in late 1985. The council had opted to fill the post on a parttime arrangement until local government reorgan-
isation was finalised. However, the Mayor of Christchurch, Sir Hamish Hay, announced the fulltime appointment yesterday. Mr Wright, aged 44, has been the administration officer in the works and planning department since 1982. He is the national president of Outward Bound. Mr Robertson will succeed Mr Bill Davies, the City Secretary, who will retire in June. He is a commitee clerk specialising in townplanning matters. Before he joined the couricil in 1982, Mr Robertson worked as senior administration officer and returning for the Palmerston North City Council. He will also be returning officer ■ for Christchurch after Mr Davies retires.
