Clerks vote in favour of merger
PA Palmerston North Town clerks and municipal treasurers have voted unanimously to disband their professional organisation. In its place, subject to the agreement of county clerks later this year, will be a new, joint institute. The Town Clerk of Palmerston North, Mr Peter Apthorp, has been elected president of the institute and will oversee its amalgamation with the Counties Institute from the start of next year. He said the merger was not necessarily linked to the proposed merger of the clerks’ employers, the Municipal and Counties associations.
