Tax exemption
PA Wellington Proposals exempting tax payments for Agent Orange compensation were announced yesterday by the Under-Secre-tary of Finance, Mr de Cleene, and the Minister in charge of War Pensions, Mr O’Flynn. Mr de Cleene said the Government had approved the draft legislation to exempt Vietnam
veterans from income tax for distributions they received from the New Zealand Agent Orange Trust. , The exemption, which was first to apply to any payments to those eligible for assistance from the beginning of this month, was likely to be included in an income tax amendment bill to be passed later this year, he said.
