Meningitis vaccination for Aucklanders

expected within a few days. Dr Cowan hopes to begin by May 1. Last year, 141 cases of meningococcal meningitis were notified to the Health Department from the Auckland region and 16 people who contracted the disease died. ‘ '• That figure represented a 100 per cent increase in the number of cases reported in 1985_ and officials fear it could reach epidemic proportions.
