Wellington reporter People should honour the war dead and not shop on Saturday, April 25, according to the Government Because Anzac Day will fall on a Saturday this year, the normal Saturday shopping hours would not apply, said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Tapsell, and the Minister of Labour, Mr Rodger.

Anzac Day would be observed until 1 p.m. in the same way as a Sunday. Thereafter, Saturday would apply, but most

shops would be closed under the Shop Trading Hours Act, the two Ministers said.

“Anzac Day is the one opportunity we have each year as a nation to honour those men and women who died overseas in the service of their country,”. Mr Tapsell said. He hoped that local authorities would close sports grounds on the morning of Anzac Day.
