Waterside workers meet
Lyttelton waterside workers held a hour stopwork meeting yesterday to discuss progress in their union's conciliation talks. Conciliation talks were held in Wellington last week in the wake of a national strike by watersiders in support of pay claims and manning negotiations. The Waterside Workers’ Union secretary at Lyttelton, Mr Warren Collins, said yesterday’s meeting was held to discuss the talks with the workers. The talks have been adjourned while the conciliator reports to the Waterfront Industry Tribunal. Mr Collins said he did not know when the talks would resume. No further industrial action has been planned by the watersiders. ARRIVALS Spirit of Competition (7 a.m.), 1600, Wellington (Pacifica). Milbum Carrier (7.30 a.m.), 2579, Westport (N.Z.
