Car thieves busy

Thirty-nine cars were unlawfully taken in Christchurch at the weekend, about 10 more than a normal busy week-end. A police spokesman said 20 to 30 vehicles were normally taken on a week-end. The upper

figure was considered high. The 39 were taken between late Friday afternoon and 7 a.m. yesterday. There was no apparent reason for the increase, the police said.
