Jim Cassidy suspended

The former New Zealand jockey, Jim Cassidy, was given a six-week suspension for causing interference to the New Zealand sprinter, Courier Bay in the sAustlso,ooo George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill, in Sydney, on Saturday. Courier Bay finished last after suffering severe interference soon after the start of the

race when Cassidy allowed his mount, Magic Flute, to shift in on the New Zealand gelding. The four-year-old smashed 26 metres of aluminium running rail before regaining his balance and suffered cuts and severe bruising in the incident.

Cassidy’s mount, Magic Flute, finished third in the race which was won by Campaign King with Drawn second.
