Decorate an egg

Pysanki eggs from Poland are decorated with complex designs, scratched onto the egg shells. (Pysanki means to scratch).

Some designs have been passed on through generations of families.

You can make your own Pysanki egg.

You will need Hard-boiled eggs, powder paint, beeswax, vegetable dye, a small sharp tool to scratch the eggs. Method: 1. Wash and dry the eggs. 2. Mix beeswax with the powder paint and brush it over the eggs. 3. Scratch a design on

the eggs by scratching off the beeswax (simple designs look best). 4. Soak the eggs in vegetable dye (beetroot or spinach, for example) for at least an hour. 5. Drain the eggs and let them dry. 6. Scrape off the wax, to reveal white eggs with colours patterns.
