NIKKIS

(A lovely name for a fashion store named after the owner’s daughter.) Mrs Dorothy Smith who owns and operates Nikkis, has been in fashion retailing for twenty years . . . starting off by selling on the road and culminating in the purchase of her original shop 11 years ago. This store was in Riccarton Road, a modest size, but destined to grow and double in space.

Dorothy Smith always had an eye for the correct place to be and moved to Riccarton Mall two years ago — her idea to move proved very correct. Trading was so successful that she also opened a store in Northlands at that time. At the beginning of this year Nikkis purchased the three shops that were originally Blooms, one in Riccarton which has been sold, one in Chancery Lane and the Merivale Mall store. Always conscious of trading in the right place, Dorothy Smith sold the Riccarton Road Store, sold Northlands and has her three branches — Riccarton Mall, Chancery Lane and Merivale Mall. Dorothy’s husband Ted has joined her this year and handles all finance and business arrangements, a very successful team. Call into Dorothy and Ted’s Merivale Mall store during Fashion week. You will love the decor. The staff are trained to give first class service and the clothes are superb. Celebrate Merivale Mall Fashion Week at Nikkis, Merivale Mall.

Nikkis carry a full range of separates but admit they specialise in dresses. This area of fashion is what Dorothy Smith calls “City Girl” dressing. Nikkis can offer you an equal

amount of both day and night wear. The age group catered for is 18 to 50 but Nikkis prefer to say they dress the “young and the young at heart.” Nikkis carry all the well known labels but claim their most important label is “Dreamgirls.” A new label showing top European styling and exclusive to Nikkis in the suburbs. Dreamgirls has a very distinctive look of its own, and is certainly a label to look for. New styles arrive weekly throughout the season so the stock is ever changing. Nikkis’ aim is variety, not quantity, and their staff are specially trained to give friendly and helpful service if required. Call in and meet Nikkis’ staff, let them show you their carefully selected stock. .. you will not be disappointed. NIKKIS, Merivale Mall.
