Painting sold for $64,000
PA Auckland An oil painting by an Auckland artist, Colin McCahon, has fetched $64,000 at an art auction in Auckland. The director of the International Arts Centre, Mr Grahame Chote, said the price for “Painting 1958” was a record for paintings of that artist. More than 400 people attended the auction in Parnell, said Mr Chote. He said the 170 works fetched more than $1 million.
