NZPA staff correspondent Sydney The support crew of the ultra-marathoner, Dick Tout, was still hopeful last night that the New Zealander could produce a burst over the final stages to secure second place in the Sydney to Melbourne run. Tout, down almost to a walk last evening, relinquished second place In the 1050 km endurance
event when he was overtaken by Britain’s Patrick Macke near Pakenham, about 120 km from the finish.
