Two face murder count
PA Dunedin Two men charged with the murder of another man in Christchurch earlier this month were to appear in the Dunedin District Court yesterday. The two accused, both unemployed men, aged 22, appeared briefly before Judge Blaikie yesterday morning when their counsel sought another week’s remand to the Dunedin court.
This was approved by the Crown, who wanted the matter to be sent back to Christchurch for hearing.
Judge Blaikie stood the two men down in custody until yesterday afternoon to allow discussions between Crown and defence counsel. The two are charged with the murder of Michael James Dowling at Christchurch on March 6.
