Meeting called to discuss cemetery
The Barbadoes Street Cemetery Preservation Committee has invited groups opposed to its ideas for development of the cemetery to meet to discuss the cemetery’s future.
“The hand of friendship was offered at a meeting on Wednesday,” said the chairman of the Preservation Committee, Mr Ray Harrison.
He made specific mention of the Avon Loop Residents’ Association and the North-East Inner City
Suburbs Residents’ Association which in the past had favoured a more open development of the area instead of the “passive development” proposed by the City Council. Mr Harrison said a working bee has been set for 9 a.m. on March 28 and he invited the public and concerned groups to attend.
The plans for development are for low-impact changes
