Inquiry into alleged malpractice

NZPA-AAP Adelaide The South Australian Government has ordered a full report into allegations of malpractice by the state’s Trotting Control Board. The Sport Minister, Mr Kym Mayes, told Parliament the Government had always said there was an error of judgment by the Board over the Batik Print affair. “I have asked for a full report and I will have that information made available,” Mr Mayes said. Allegations by the State Opposition centre round the prestigious $lO,OOO South Australian Breeders Plate raced on May 24 last year.

A routine swab taken from the heavily backed winner, Batik Print, was found to be positive to the painkilling drug dexamethasone when tested by the Institute of Drug Technology in Melbourne.
