Adsteam issue The Adelaide Steamship Company, Ltd, directors said the sAust22B million expected to be raised from the earlier announced one-for-five rights issue would be used for general working capital and investment. The rights issue, which will be followed by a one-four-bonus issue, was announced with the release of December half year earnings which rose 35 per cent to an equity accounted net profit of sAust7s.osM. Brambles buy Brambles Industries, Ltd, said it has agreed to acquire 58 per cent of French rail wagon and tank container company, Ste de Transport et Manutentions Industriels SA (Stemi) from Cie de Navigation Mixte SA. The proposed purchase would take its stake to 68.8 per cent of Stemi at a cash cost of 281 million francs and it proposes a cash bid for the remainder. Both are subject to official French approvals, it said. It noted Stemi earned 36.4 M francs after tax in 1986. Merger move The merger of Ravensdown Supply Co-operative, Ltd, with East Coast Fertiliser Co, Ltd, has moved a step nearer with proposals being sent to the respective shareholders. Shareholders have been asked to return proxy forms by March 20 and will vote on the scheme of arrangement at meetings in the North and South Islands on March 31. The plan is for East Coast to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ravensdown whose name would be changed to Agfort Co-operative, Ltd. NBH offer North Broken Hill Holdings, Ltd, will raise sAustl9.6 million ($NZ23.52M) from its shareholders by offering them one share in NBH’s gold float company, Norgold, Ltd, for every five NBH shares held. NBH told the stock exchange its shareholders would be offered 89M 20c shares at an issue price of 22c a share in Norgold, which is currently a wholly owned NBH subsidiary with an issued capital of BL7M shares. NBH will take a further 69.8 M 20c shares at a premium of 5c each, giving it 63 per cent of Norgold’s expanded capital of 240.5 M shares. Nat Blood div National Bloodstock, Ltd, will pay an interim dividend for the year ending March 31 of 2.5 c per an ordinary share (5 per cent) payable on April 10, ex-March 24, the directors said yesterday. National Bloodstock is operating in line with its budget of $1 million tax paid for the year ending March 31. Index change Coca Cola Company and Boeing Company have been added to the leading US stock index, replacing a pair of oldline companies in an effort to keep its blue-chip list abreast of the corporate times.
