Foodtown robber bankrupt

PA Auckland Charles Thomas Willoughby jun., who was last year convicted of taking part in New Zealand’s biggest armed robbery, was yesterday adjudged bankrupt.

Mr Justice Hillyer made the order in the High Court at Auckland after hearing Willoughby owed more than $16,000 to the Inland Revenue Department.

The former restaurateur and nightclub owner denied the robbery of the Birkenhead Foodtown but was was found guilty after a trial in the High Court last year. The papers were served to Willoughby in Paremoremo Prison, where he is serving a 10-year term.
