F and P restructure
PA Auckland Fisher and Paykel, Ltd, has restructured its management team to take advantage of overseas market opportunities.
The thrust into offshore manufacturing and marketing will be led by the managing director, Mr D. D. Rowlands, who becomes group chief executive.
Mr Rowlands is succeeded as managing director by Mr G. A. Paykel.
The chairman, Mr William Wilson, said the company was now ready to take advantage of opportunities which involved overseas sales of locally developed products, manufacturing techniques and technology. Fisher and Paykel has become a world leader in the development of flexible, online automation and home appliances such as the microprocessor controlled ECS autowasher.
Mr Wilson said Fisher and Paykel had developed an export trade in refrigerators, freezers and medical equipment worth more than $4O million a year. Now, he said, the company planned to establish offshore manufacturing facilities which incorporated flexible automated plant designed and built by its own people. Fisher and Paykel is 23 per cent owned by Equiticorp Holdings, Ltd.
