M.P. grounded

NZPA-AAP Nandi The Fiji parliamentary career of the former All Black rugby footballer,

Arthur Jennings, has ended after he was grounded by the authorities. Mr Jennings, an independent member in the last Parliament, had applied to the Civil Aviation

Authority for permission to conduct an aerial campaign for next month’s election. He wanted to fly in a

light plane over his large Western electorate towing a banner, speaking through a loud-hailer and dropping pamphlets.

Mr Jennings told AAP yesterday his request had been turned down and he had decided not to nominate for the election as he had "no chance on the ground.”

Mr Jennings, born in Fiji, played for the All Blacks in 1967. He is a member of the Fiji Rugby Union executive. - 4 *L
