Technology park for Burnside
Wellington reporter
A technology park of 11.75 ha will be set up at Burnside in Christchurch now that the Land Settlement Board has approved the sale of Crown Land at Royds block to the Canterbury Development Corporation. The Minister of Lands, Mr Wetere, said that the board had realised the great value of the land and decided that the corporation’s plans for a park were admirable.
Local people were very much in favour of the whole concept and all Christchurch would benefit, said Mrs Margaret Austin (Lab., Yaldhurst). The technology park would incorporate hightech development and progress, and attract financial returns to Christchurch as well as providing employment, she said.
