Creditable performances

The New Zealand men’s hockey team is performing with credit in an outdoor tournament in Buenos Aires and could head the points table when the final round is played tomorrow.

Last week New Zealand finished without a point in a six-nation indoor tournament, but outdoors has had two draws in two

games. All four games played so far have been draws and New Zealand is lying second on goal difference behind the host, Argentina. Yesterday New Zealand drew, 1-1, with the World Cup holder Australia in a tempestuous match, and the previous day it came from behind twice to draw, 2-2, with Argentina.

In the final round New Zealand will play Spain and Argentina plays Australia.

In other matches Argentina and Spain drew 2-2, and Australia and Spain drew 0-0. Brent Miskimmin, a half-back will take no further part in the tournament. He has a thigh injury.
