Dickson starts well
NZPA staff correspondent Washington
Chris Dickson and his New Zealand crew had a good start in the Congressional Cup yacht racing series off Long Beach, California, yesterday, winning both their races.
In what Dickson described as “perfect” sailing
conditions, he beat Carl Buchan, from Seattle, in the first race and Barnie Flam, a local west coast entry in the second. The end of the day saw Dickson, Peter Isler, the navigator of Dennis Conner’s Stars and Stripes, and Britain’s Eddie Owen clear with two wins each.
