University wins tour rugby
NZPA Hong Kong The University of Canterbury won the third match of its Japanese rugby tour, when it defeated a Japanese selection, 19-8, at Osaka. University’s coach, Laurie O’Reilly, said that the first half of the match, plaved in
snowy conditions, was extremely close. "We were down, 3-4, at half-time," Mr O’Reilly said. He said an opportunist try by the left wing, Kieran Jones, turned the scoring back to Canterbury University’s favour.
Scorers.Canterbury University: Kieran Jones, Mark Meates, Andrew Macky tries, Paul Treves a penalty and two conversions.
Japanese XV: Hirau and Chida tries.
