Favourable feedback

The Canterbury Boys Cricket Association has received favourable feedback on “The Press” secondary schoolboys twilight cricket tournament which started last month.

Fourteen teams, split into two grades (A grade of eight teams), are competing in the inaugural limited-over twilight tournament, which will be completed in the third term.

A spokesman for the C.B.C.A. said that the schools and players viewed the competition enthusiastically and it was welcomed for the extra cricket it provided, especially because wet weather had prevented play on several Satur-

days. One twilight round was also washed out, but it will be played in the third term. The contest will resume with the introduction of daylight saving at the end of October.

Points after two rounds.—

A grade.— Christchurch B.H.S. A, St Andrew’s, Linwood, 4; Bumside, Shirley, Rangiora, 2; Papanui, Christchurch B.H.S. B, 0. (Shirley and Rangiora have a deferred game). B grade.— Hillmorton, Riccarton, 4; Cashmere, 2; Mairehau, Catholic Cathedral, Aranui, 0. (Aranui and Mairehau have a deferred game).
