Better footpaths wanted
NZPA-Reuter London Britain’s National Consumer Council has urged improved safety standards for the nation’s pavements after a survey showed nearly three million adults a year trip or fall on damaged paving stones. The council said an estimated 500,000 people needed medical treatment last year after trying to negotiate broken and dangerous pavements littered with rubbish, dog excreta, scaffolding poles and parked cars.
