M.E.D. profits
Sir,—lt disturbed me to read of the City Council’s decision to transfer M.E.D. profits to the council’s rate coffers. As a Waimairi resident who has contributed to the M.E.D.’s profits, one would have thought that a reduction in power tariffs was the fair and equitable way to use any surplus funds. I think the remarks of Sir Hamish, that when Waimairi joins the city then we will all benefit, are childish. If this is the sort of leadership we can expect from an amalgamated city, then I wish Waimairi all the best in its fight against joining the one-city conglomerate.—Yours, etc., RUSSEL J. MARSH.
