Power cable repair bill
PA Auckland Repairing the undersea power cable to Motuihe Island could cost the Lands and Survey Department up to $60,000, says the Auckland Electric Power Board’s engineering assistant manager, Len Sorrell. A yacht dragging its anchor on March 5 is believed to have caused the break. The island’s four residents were relying on borrowed generators until repairs were made, probably by Thursday, Mr Sorrell said.
