Franchise format
A high level of interest in gaining franchises for Miniskips has been noted in the South Island since
their availability was advertised. Already ten of the franchises have been sold in areas ranging from Southland to Nelson. Local manager, Mr Ross Nevin, asserts that the interest levels expressed by southern entrepreneurs are distinctly higher than in the North Island.
“We have had to turn down a suprising number of applicants for rights to a Miniskips franchise,” he said. With a franchise obtained, Miniskip operators
get a Mazda truck, a supply of “skips,” and a clearly defined area of operation.
At present three of the local franchises issued, plus the “in-house” truck are based at the Wordsworth Street offices of Miniskips. This office houses the radio-telephone system that links all franchise operators in the Christchurch area.
It is also planned within
the next few months to appoint a “Compac-rep” to drive and operate a wet-based compacting unit that is proving popular elsewhere with food chains and hotels.
