Mt Vernon rezoning
A proposal for rezoning and possible residential development of Mount Vernon Park was “premature,” said the Heathcote County Council’s townplanning committee last evening. The Christchurch Civic Trust had sought the rezoning at an earlier meeting so that residential sec-
tions at the foot of the park could be sold if necessary to meet $25,000 still owing on the park. The council said that further action would be considered when longterm plans had been prepared by the Port Hills Trust and other relevant bodies.
