Commercial litigation pilot scheme
PA Wellington The High Court at Auckland will have a new procedure for dealing with commercial litigation from April, said the Minister of Justice, Mr Palmer. Parties to commercial litigation will be able to choose to have their cases placed on a commercial list. “The aim of a commercial list is to speed up proceedings by getting to
the substance of a case as quickly as possible and by putting litigants and lawyers on tight timetables,” Mr Palmer said. The commercial list would be a pilot scheme at the High Court at Auckland for an .initial period of four years. “If it proves to be successful, the list will be made permanent. Commercial lists would then be set up at other centres,” Mr Palmer said.
