An evening with Victoria
Christchurch audiences may be surprised .by. the portrayal of Queen Victoria in “An Evening With Queen Victoria,” showing at the James Hay Theatre Prunella Scales (better known as Sybil Fawlty from “Fawlty Towers”) describes the queen slie plays as “an emotional, passionate and highlysexed woman, with a fine sense of humour, a hearty laugh and a liberal outlook.”
The show, written by Katrina Hendrey, is taken from letters and diaries written by Victoria. It begins with Victoria as a 13-year-old girl, and finishes with her as an 81-year-old matriarch. Prunella Scales is backed by Richard Burnett on piano and tenor, lan Patridge. “An Evening With Queen Victoria” plays on March 10, and from March 12 to 14.
