Boards’ terms extended
The Minister of Lands, Mr Wetere, has extended the term of office by a year for members of four national parks and reserves boards: Aorangi, North Canterbury, West Coast, and Nelson-Marl-borough.
“It is desirable to have continuity during the establishment period of the Department of Conservation and to allow further time for full consideration of management in the environmental area.” said Mr Wetere. The members of the Aorangi National Parks and Reserves Board are Mrs F. M. Aubrey, Omarama; Messrs H. W. Fisher, Timaru; G. E. Hasell, Timaru; J. I. Innes, Timaru; Mrs H. M. Heddell, Ashburton; Messrs R. S Newton, Christchurch: J. E. Ross, Ashburton; R. S. Tasker, Ashburton; D: G Thomson, Ashburton; and W. Torepe, Temuka. The members of the North Canterbury
National Parks and Reserves Board are Messrs L. D. Bowring, Kalkoura; I. Calvert, Christchurch; W. G. Croll, Christchurch; I. D.. Gardiner, Christchurch; Dr D. R. Given, Christchurch; Messrs A M. Henderson, Oxford; P. M. Johns, Christchurch; D. M. Williams, Christchurch; Ms L. H. Shand, Culverden; and Mrs T. W. A. Stirling, Christchurch.
The members of the West Coast National Parks and Reserves Board are Mrs M. E. C. Bryant, Hokitika; Dr R. M. Emberson, Christchurch; Messrs P. R. Fegan, Franz Josef Glacier; W. S. Gilbertson, Greymoutii; A. R. Groom, Greymouth; B. M. Horne, Franz Josef Glacier; J. F. Keenan, Hokitika; R. G. McAuliffe, Greymouth; M. J. Sullivan, Fox Glacier; and P. G. Wood, Westport.
The members of the Nelson/Marl borough National Parks and Reserves Board are Messrs G. A. Carr, Renwick; R. M. Elllffe,
Picton; S. R. Kennington, Seddon; I. I.ash, Nelson; P. H. Malone, Nelson; L. A. Pigou, Blenheim; G. W. .Thurlow, Murchison; P. T. Timings, Takaka; and Mrs J. S. Worley, Richmond. The term of office of the National Parks and Reserves Authority has also been extended for one year. The members ;are Mr D. A. Thom, Auckland (chairman), Professor A. F.
