Garden pleasure
Pleasure among plants. By Jonathan Spade. Rood Methuen, 1986. 168 pp. Illustrations by Vivian Ward. $24.95. i
Nineteen eighty-six was certainly Jonathan Spade’s year. To his recently published “The New Zealand Kitchen Garden,” he now adds “Pleasure Among Plants,” a collection of short articles on gardening which appeared originally In “The New Zealand Herald,” in Auckland. The book is a most pleasant amalgam of gardening hints, discussions, and observations, all written in an engaging style. It would make excellent reading* from the depths of the summer garden chair, or round the fire on a cold winter’s evening.—Thelma Strongman.
