Versatile drivers
Sir,—l read in two editions Of some criticism of Railways officials. I write to congratulate your Railways bus officials. I am a visitor to New Zealand and have for the past week been travelling around the . South Island. Never have I encountered such a great bunch of blokes as the Railways bus drivers. Nothing was too much trouble for them. From collecting bread at 1 a.m. to delivering milk at 3 or 4 a.m., to collecting a child and carrying her from school 40km up the road; collecting and delivering newspapers and mailbags to the rural folk. All this whilst catering to the needs of each and every traveller, whilst pointing out the attractions and the history of many features •along the road, from the seasons for stream flow to the depth of lakes and where to fish. They are a really great group of "ambassadors” for your fine country. — Yburs, etc.,
