Provincial ranking competition keen

In a season in which Canterbury junior tennis players won 10 individual and two team titles in national events, competition for places on the provincial ranking lists has been unusually keen. However, it is not surprising that Andrew Batie has been placed at the head of the 16-years boys’ list, after his New Zealand singles victory in that division and his second placing in the national 18-years grade singles and doubles. Nor is it a shock that Amanda Trail leads the field in both the girls’ 14 and 16yeafs groups after four national championship wins over three age groups, ranging from 14 to 18 years.
