Drop in tonnage through Port
I Tonnage through the Port I of Lyttelton for the first three I months of the 1988-87 financial year was 9 per cent down on the similar period last I year. ■'-' The general manager of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, Mr lan Brokenshire, released these figures in his report to the board yesterday. The biggest decline was in imports from overseas, which were 39,219 tonnes less than the comparable period last year. ■■ Overseas exports, however, showed an increase of 7123 tonnes. Mr Brokenshire noted in his report that although cargo handled for the first quarter "was below that handled in the same period last year, the tonnage was 14,452 tonnes ahead, .of budget for the period.
