Pay now, die later scheme
PA Palmerston North
A pay-now-die-later scheme will be launched next month by New Zealand funeral directors.
The instalment plan was unveiled in Palmerston North yesterday by the president of the Funeral Directors’ Association, Mr Trevor Parker, of Gisborne. The association is holding its fiftieth annual convention.
Mr Parker said the family bereavement plan was designed for people worried about the cost of funerals, »which today “nudged $2000.”
Mr Parker said the idea was for people to talk to a funeral director and work out the probable cost of a funeral. They could then pay in advance, either in a lump sum or in $250 instalments.
