Aerobic exercises for pets
Does Fido look a little peaky? Is kitty these days not quite so nippy? Then try a few press-ups to get them back to their old selves.
This is the bright idea of American couple Fay and Warren Eckstein in their new book called “Pet Aerobics.” They say that pets need exercises just as much as humans to keep fit and healthy. Fay said: "Without exercises, your pet’s heart, lungs and muscles get
weaker.” But just how do you get your pet to take exercise? The Ecksteins, who have trained more than 30,000 pets, say you can do it with a programme based on everyday commands. For example: Press-ups: Practice the “down" and "sit” commands until the pet can do them in sequence. Excellent for heart and lungs and reducing stomachs. Sit-ups: A combination
of "sit” and “stand” commands. Tones the tummy, strengthens legs and cuts fat from the hindquarters. Staircase '■ ■ sprints: Throw a bail up the stairs and encourage your pet to fetch it. Greet for heart lungs and tegs.
You can also take your pet jogging by starting with short walks and gradually increasing speed and distance.
Swimming is also great exercise. Copyright Duo.
