Accountant to contest Lyttelton

An accountant for the Christchurch C. 1.8. has been selected as the National Party’s candidate to contest the Lyttelton seat at this year’s General Election.

Mr P. S. Hall, aged 36, was selected at a meeting of 65 voting delegates in the Lyttelton electorate last evening.

Mr Hall was raised at Peraki, Banks Peninsula, and completed his education at St Andrew’s College and the University of Canterbury. He gained an M. COMM, degree in accountancy and then lectured at the university.

Mr Hall has been an accountant with the fraud squad of the Christchurch police for the last 10 years.

He is married, with two children.

There was only one other nomination for the candidacy, that of Mr Barry Botherway, who is also an accountant.
