A.I.D.S. boost
NZPA Sydney Fear of A.I.D.S. has been behind an outbreak of buying certain medical products stocks on the Australian sharemarket yesterday and on Tuesday. Market observers also believe the rapid spread of A.I.D.S. in Australia has resulted in the share price of Private Bloodbank of Australia more than quadrupling since listing in December. Private Bloodbank has adopted a high profile with advertisements for to freeze and
store people’s blood Pacific Dunlop, with its Ansell subsidiary, the world’s largest manufacturer of prophylactics and a major supplier of medical gloves, has been traded actively with 3.9 million shares changing hands on Tuesday and 5 million yesterday. That represents about 2 per cent of the company’s issued capital. Private Bloodbank shares closed 56c higher at 506 c yesterday — accelerating the bull run since listing at 120 c in mid-December.
