British hotline scheme for car buying

Britain’s Automobile Association has just launched a scheme which, it claims, will enable buyers in the United Kingdom to purchase virtually any new car at the bedrock price. The association is encouraging new car buyers to abandon the time-con-suming and frustrating procedure- of canvassing franchised dealers to obtain the best price on a new car.

The A.A. conducts a Shopping Service hotline for its members and on the payment of an additional $75 dr so, annually, members can sit at home, pick up the telephone and ring the hotline to outline their requirements to consultants. With the aid of a specially programmed computer, the consultants will be able to provide a

quotation and then a very competitive on-the-road price. Then, on receipt of the inquirer’s cheque or bank draft, the A.A. will deliver the car to the buyer’s home or office within a fortnight. However, as well as taking orders for new cars, the service also aims to give advice to its members.

The A.A. claims that it can offer its members the opportunity to secure

impartial and detailed information about almost every current leading make ,or model available in the United Kingdom. On top of that, the hotline service will also advise its members of the likely price they can expect to receive for their existing cars. The A.A. will also help to locate models that are in short supply or have particularly unusual options or specifications.
